Game Description:
Key of Success is a First Person Platformer in which you need to jumps accross several platforms to get through different levels.
The game is aimed at hardcore players who likes to challenge themselves, since the game has very difficult jumps paired with close jump timings and fast reactions.
It also features a speedrun mode and achievements to unlock to push the challenge even further.

What did I do:


I always liked platformer and arcade games where you need to improve your skills to progress, so I wanted to make one.
I started by designing the main movement mechanics with a lot of testing through the prototyping process to have the best play feel that I could achieve.
Then I added the jump feature and some variations (like wall jumps) with the same logic, once again to be able to reach the best game feel that I could achieve.
I wrote some ideas to implement some kind of platforming device to spice up the platforming sections of the game and started working on the Level Design.
I wanted to keep it simple on the design side, to not be overwhelmed during the game production, considering I'm mostly alone to make this game.
I managed to build 2 levels that should be able early January 2023. I plan to build 4 more levels that will come with time.
Game intentions :
With this game I wanted to be able to release a game on my own, so it needed to be pretty basic in terms of design.
I also wanted to train myself with precise Platforming Level Design so player would feel gratified with their own success and skills while not being frustrated by having to start over too much.
Finally I wanted to try to build some "Show, don't tell" kind of narration by putting together a little story through gameplay, assets, music and without a single word spoken or written.
